From SBI's own published documents, checked 11 Oct 2026. easylancing isn't affiliated with SBI; banks update their forms, so check the latest version (linked below) or ask your branch.

The SBI EDF format

  • SBI's customer guide (effective 1 October 2026) asks for the EDF but publishes no separate EDF layout, so use the RBI form. The free generator prints it.
  • SBI also wants a "request letter in Bank's standard format with FEMA declarations". It isn't on SBI's website: ask your branch for it.

Category of exporter: The RBI form's "others" works for service exporters; ask SBI if unsure.

How to submit it to SBI

  • At an SBI branch authorised for foreign exchange. Business customers can use e-Trade on YONO Business.
  • SBI certifies a services EDF the next working day (T+1).
  • Due within 30 days after the end of the month in which you invoiced: October 2026 invoices by 30 Nov 2026. One EDF covers all of a month's invoices. Work out your due date.

What to attach

  • Request letter in SBI's format with FEMA declarations.
  • Service agreement or statement of work, and your invoices.
  • The EDF.
  • Proof that the service was provided: a delivery, milestone or usage record. Software delivered online counts as an export.
  • An IEC, active on ICEGATE: SBI's guide lists it before you start.
  • Paid by someone other than your client? A tripartite agreement or other proof, with the third party shown on the EDF.

Charges

SBI publishes a foreign-exchange charges schedule effective 1 October 2026; check it for EDF and export-bill charges.

Individuals: you may not need to file

The regulations have no exemption for individuals. But on 7 October 2026 RBI's Governor said individuals don't have to report transactions of a personal nature, whatever the amount, and gave tutoring and small software work for clients abroad as examples; a Deputy Governor said individuals aren't included for contracts of a personal nature. RBI has promised an FAQ, which isn't out yet.

Until the FAQ is out, companies, LLPs and firms file; if you invoice in your own name, ask SBI whether it wants an EDF from you. Who files.
