How to submit
-
Authorised (A/B category) branch / operating unit verified
SBI policy: only 'Authorised Branch/Operating Unit' (A and B category branches) handle export/import; the authorised branch is the 'specified authority' certifying services EDFs. Customer guide: 'Current account at an authorised branch' is a prerequisite.

e-Trade on YONO Business verified
Cross-border framework lists e-Trade on YONO Business (https://yonobusiness.sbi.bank.in) as the digital channel; eTrade journeys include Inward Remittance and EDPMS enquiry/extension/reconcile. A dedicated 'services EDF' journey is not listed. YONO Business is for business customers, so individuals with only a savings account may not have access.

- Timing
- Within 30 days from the end of the invoice month (one EDF may cover the month). The bank may extend on request citing reasons, approved under its delegation of authority; 'late submission of services EDF' is a request with a 2-day TAT. EDF certification (services/software) has a T+1 TAT; FIRC is issued T+1 of realisation. SBI enters the EDF in EDPMS within 5 working days. Same-day processing for requests complete by 3:00 pm.
- Charges
- No services-EDF fee is published. The forex schedule (w.e.f. 01.05.2025) has 'Handling of Softex Forms / e-Commerce Bills / Small value Exports (up to USD 10,000)': Nil for export-credit customers; INR 200 per form for non-export-credit customers (INR 50 if more than 10 in bulk). 'Remittances related to Exports': INR 500 per remittance for non-export-credit customers. e-FIRC: INR 200 for usage, no charge for issuance. Whether these apply to post-1 Oct 2026 services EDFs is not stated. Plus GST. No penal charge for regulatory delay.
- FIRA / FIRC
- The bank 'issues FIRC if required' with T+1 TAT; e-FIRC is free to issue, INR 200 'for usage' for non-export-credit customers (2025 schedule). Retail IRC inward commission is INR 50 per transaction plus GST (as on 02.06.2026).
- Declaring the purpose code
- The International Remittance Centre (IRC) auto-processes retail SWIFT inwards up to USD 25,000 only for listed retail purpose codes (e.g. P1301, P1302, P1401, P1499). Services-export codes (P08xx/P10xx) are not on that list, so such messages are 'rerouted to the branch for enhanced due diligence' (forex-linked branch), and inwards above USD 25,000 go to B category branches. For export proceeds the customer must 'tell the Bank the purpose' and give a disposal instruction plus a customer request-cum-debit authority with FEMA declarations. The framework lists extra documents by purpose code, e.g. P0801/P0802: statement of work, milestone sign-off, timesheets; P1004-P1009: engagement letter or contract plus completion certificate.
Recommendations
- Bank with an SBI authorised (A/B category) forex branch; the customer guide assumes a current account there. If your account is in a non-forex branch, ask which forex-linked branch handles your EDF.
- SBI's customer guide lists an IEC as a prerequisite, so get an IEC from DGFT (₹500; its number is your PAN) before filing, rather than relying on PAN alone.
- Expect services-export SWIFT inwards to be held for the branch's purpose-code confirmation, since the central retail IRC only auto-credits personal purpose codes. Reply promptly with a disposal instruction stating the P-code (e.g. P0802/P1006), the invoice and the contract.
- Attach a statement of work and proof of delivery (milestone sign-off/timesheets) with the monthly EDF, as SBI's export checklist requires.
- Under SBI's documents rule, use the quarterly bulk declaration to close invoices up to INR 10 lakh.
- For PA/platform payouts that arrive as domestic INR credits (Wise/Skydo/Razorpay/Payoneer/PayPal), keep the provider's FIRA/e-FIRC and ask the bank how it wants them mapped to the EDF; no bank in this group publishes a rule for this.
