The ICICI Bank EDF format
- ICICI publishes an "Export Declaration Form" (PDF dated 1 October 2026) in the RBI layout: general information, the services table (Part 2B), the exporter's declaration and the bank's certificate.
- Its "Category of Exporter" options include "Others (Specify e.g. Individual, trust)". Freelancers working as individuals can choose that.
- The free generator prints the same form, filled in.
Category of exporter: ICICI's form offers "Others (Specify e.g. Individual, trust)": individuals can choose others and write "Individual".
How to submit it to ICICI Bank
- At an ICICI branch, or online through Trade Online, Corporate Internet Banking or Corporate SWIFT. ICICI accepts the EDF "either digitally or in physical form".
- Trade Online is set up through Corporate Internet Banking or InstaBIZ, i.e. business accounts. ICICI doesn't say whether savings-account customers can use it.
- Documents submitted by 3 pm are processed the same day (ICICI's cut-off).
- Due within 30 days after the end of the month in which you invoiced: October 2026 invoices by 30 Nov 2026. One EDF covers all of a month's invoices. Work out your due date.
What to attach
- A request letter with the FEMA declaration, the EDF and your invoices (ICICI's policy).
- IRM or e-FIRC details when you regularise a payment received in advance.
- For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, a declaration that the money was received is enough to close the entry.
- If you're paid through Razorpay with ICICI as the settlement bank, Razorpay says you need an EDF number before the payment is captured (reported by Razorpay).
Charges
ICICI doesn't list a charge for the services EDF; see its business service charges. ICICI issues e-FIRCs for export proceeds.
Individuals: you may not need to file
The regulations have no exemption for individuals. But on 7 October 2026 RBI's Governor said individuals don't have to report transactions of a personal nature, whatever the amount, and gave tutoring and small software work for clients abroad as examples; a Deputy Governor said individuals aren't included for contracts of a personal nature. RBI has promised an FAQ, which isn't out yet.
Until the FAQ is out, companies, LLPs and firms file; if you invoice in your own name, ask ICICI Bank whether it wants an EDF from you. Who files.
