Selling on Fiverr from India: FIRA, purpose code and the EDF

Fiverr pays Indian sellers through Payoneer or PayPal, so your proof of payment and purpose code come from them. Fiverr doesn't file the Export Declaration Form for you.

Last updated 09 Oct 2026 · Not legal or tax advice

The short version

  • Fiverr doesn't file the EDF for you, and it isn't licensed by RBI; payouts to India go through Payoneer or PayPal.
  • Your FIRA comes from Payoneer or PayPal, not from Fiverr.
  • Name Fiverr in the EDF's third-party payer fields, since Fiverr, not your buyer, pays you.
  • Set the purpose code for your service in Payoneer or PayPal.

How Fiverr money reaches you

From the providers' published pages and, where marked, user reports, checked 04 Oct 2026. Providers change their banking partners and rules; check before you rely on this.

Fiverr to Payoneer, then your Indian bank

  • How it arrives: Payoneer withdraws automatically to your Indian bank in rupees within 48 hours.
  • Proof of payment: A FIRA, FIRS or NOC in your Payoneer Documents section. See the Payoneer guide.

Fiverr to PayPal, then your Indian bank

  • How it arrives: PayPal transfers to your Indian bank in rupees.
  • Proof of payment: PayPal's weekly digital FIRA. See the PayPal guide.

Your Export Declaration Form

Exporters file the EDF with their AD bank within 30 days after the end of each month in which they invoiced a foreign client. Companies, LLPs and firms file. Individuals may not need to: on 7 October 2026 RBI said individuals don't have to report transactions of a personal nature, and its FAQ isn't out yet, so ask your bank (who files). See the full EDF guide or work out your due date.

  • List your invoices for the month's orders to buyers abroad in Part 2B.
  • Name Fiverr in the third-party payer fields with the relationship, for example "Payment platform engaged by the service recipient". Your bank decides whether to accept it.
  • One withdrawal usually covers several orders; match each to what it pays.
  • Keep Fiverr's order records with the Payoneer or PayPal FIRAs.

Fees

Fiverr's service fee and the payout provider's fees are deducted before the money reaches you. Declare the full amount billed and record the difference as fees.

Watch out for

  • Check the purpose code in Payoneer or PayPal: a personal code on order payments weakens your export evidence.

Questions

Do Fiverr sellers in India need to file the EDF?

Possibly not, if you sell as an individual. The regulations have no exemption, but on 7 October 2026 RBI said individuals don't have to report transactions of a personal nature, and gave small software work and tutoring for clients abroad as examples. Its FAQ isn't out yet: ask your bank. Companies and firms file monthly, for the invoices of each month. Fiverr doesn't file it for you.

Where do I get a FIRA for Fiverr earnings?

From the provider Fiverr pays you through: Payoneer puts FIRAs in your Documents section, and PayPal offers a weekly digital FIRA.

Who is the payer on my EDF for Fiverr orders?

Fiverr pays you on behalf of your buyers, so name Fiverr in the third-party payer fields with the relationship, for example "Payment platform engaged by the service recipient".

Do it in easylancing

Upload each Fiverr statement, FIRA or e-FIRC and easylancing reads the amounts, suggests the invoice it pays and fills in any fee for you to record on the invoice. At the end of the month it prepares the EDF, with the platform as third-party payer if you entered it on the invoice. Or try the free EDF generator and the purpose code list.
