Remitter puts purpose code/details in SWIFT field 70/72; funds go via IndusInd Bank (SWIFT INDBINBBBGM, beneficiary Jana SFB a/c 201021255493) and are credited with narration 'Forex Remittance' (verified)

Recommendations

  • Do not have foreign clients pay freelance fees into Jana SFB. Its remittance service covers only personal non-trade purposes and the bank says trade/business remittances are not allowed.
  • Receive export proceeds at an AD Category-I bank that processes trade remittances, and file EDFs there. Re-check Jana later, as its AD-I licence may lead to a direct service.
  • Ask your branch or relationship manager how it wants the monthly EDF for services. Most banks take it at the branch or through the relationship manager; business customers may be able to use a trade portal.
  • Ask whether it accepts PAN when you don't have an IEC.
  • Take the printed EDF, the covering letter, copies of the invoices and any FIRA / e-FIRC.
  • Your bank must publish its export policy on its website (Reg. 19). Look for "export" or "FEMA" policy documents there.
